Day 1: Port Elizabeth to Port Alfred

        

Your professional tour guide collects you from your point of destination to start a luxury tour learning into Albany and Grahamstown. You get to learn about the antics of our beautiful Province. Hear about the arrival of the different cultures starting with the first inhabitants, the early Hominines, the Bushmen, and Khoikhoi, and the arrival of the Portuguese explorers, the free Boers, and the 1820 Settlers. You start this tour leaving from the friendly city of Port Elizabeth, traveling along the N2 to experience the beautiful views of Algoa Bay, and passing through Colchester to see the world's second-longest dune forest in the. Travel past farming areas with the largest biome in the Eastern Cape. You pass a number of world-renowned Game Reserves. Visit the 1820 Settler Monument, Fort Selwyn, and into the town of Grahamstown to visit cultural museums. Onto Bathurst you pass 1820 allotments, learn about the 1824 Bathurst Frontier War, visit the Toposcope Heritage site, Brad Shaws Mill, and stop for a light lunch at the Pig and Whistle, one of the oldest pubs in South Africa. Here you can also visit Bathurst’s bric-a-brac antiques and craft shops, before heading to the popular holiday destination, Port Alfred.

Day 2: Port Alfred, King Williams Town to East London

 

After a delicious breakfast, you start your second day activities by travelling to King Williams Town, renowned for its beautiful stone buildings, many of which date back to the Frontier wars, to visit the museum of the anti-apartheid activist Steve Biko. Steve Biko’s philosophy focused primarily on liberating the minds of Black people who had been relegated to an inferior status by white power structures. The museum is more than a tourist attraction, it is a rich resource that supports the work of the arts and culture, education and research and policy units to name a few. The museum has become a site of learning and performance, literally coming alive with music, dance, and creative interpretations of South African history. After this luxurious cultural experience, you head on into East London A city that still manages to retain some of its old-fashioned values blended with a dollop of laidback charm makes East London - the gateway to the wild coast and the sunshine coast and the only river port in South Africa - one of the most appealing cities on the coast. that may seem like an underrated destination, but the city's art and culture scene is anything but also known for its white stretches of sandy beach. After this you stop for a light lunch before you get to enjoy some leisure time.  Your tour guide will escort you for dinner.

Day 3: East London to Coffee Bay on The Wild Coast

 

Enjoy breakfast before heading to the luxurious Coffee Bay on the Wild Coast, known for a way of life and a magic that’s simply unexplainable…and must be experienced. It is one of the loveliest spots on the Wild Coast of the Eastern Cape—if not in the whole world. Coffee bay is a small community located along the Wild Coast of South Africa, known for its breathtaking views and beaches. Learn about all the interesting culture Coffee Bay has to offer and find out where Coffee Bay got its name from. There is no better way of getting to know the Xhosa nation with their ancient tribal culture than by visiting Coffee Bay. Day 4: Coffee Bay

After a luxurious breakfast on the beachfront, you will visit one of the most must-see places Coffee Bay has to offer – the area is the `Hole in the Wall', a geological marvel. It is a unique structure with a huge, detached cliff. Xhosa mythology tells a far more romantic tale of the legend of this attraction that your guide will tell you all about this cultural uniqueness. The legend of Hole in the Wall is a story passed down through generations. There is a lagoon lovely to swim in and in front of the Hole in the Wall, there is a long shallow area that is teeming with life, ideal for families that enjoy splashing about. This is where you get to experience the warm waters of the east coast of South Africa. There is also a grassy area where families can enjoy a picnic lunch, or simply relax as they enjoy the pure prettiness around them. You have the opportunity to swim, tan, walk, and just enjoy pure leisure time. Coffee Bay also allows you to enjoy an optional hike that starts at the beautiful main beach and meanders along the coastline, passing Baby Hole and the Hlungwane Waterfall. Day 5: Coffee Bay to Umtata 


After having breakfast, we carry along to a popular tourist destination, Umtata is Madiba country. Renowned as the world’s most loved ex-convict, Nelson Mandela. Here you enjoy a special cultural encounter of our country where we visit Nelson Mandela’s place of birth and the popular heritage museum. The birthplace/museum is situated at Qunu which offers visitors an inspiring journey through the life of Nelson Mandela, known affectionately as 'Madiba', Nelson Mandela is loved and respected world-wide for his tireless energy to bring about a better life for all. At the historic Bhunga Building, you will experience the story of Nelson Mandela told in his own words. The Nelson Mandela Museum offers a memorable cultural experience that gives insights into the life of Nelson Mandela, with guided tours and a heritage that follows his footprints. After having lunch, you head back on the N2 to Umtata, which was declared the Capital of the Transkei, the homeland rural area of the Xhosa during the Apartheid era. It is the colourful and lively centre of the Eastern Cape region. Book into your accommodation on arrival and after some leisure time, you are escorted to a delicious dinner.

Day 6: Umtata to Rhodes 


After breakfast, you embark on your journey leaving the history of Umtata in your hearts and head to Rhodes, which is on the beautiful foothills of the Drakensburg. Most of the Drakensberg landscape is covered in grass ranging from tall giant turpentine grass to red grass and spear grass and you will see the beautiful grassland wherever you look. The Drakensburg is considered to be one of South Africa's most dramatic and enticingly beautiful landscapes. On the way to Rhodes, you will stop for a light lunch. Rhodes is a hamlet or small village alongside the wild trout-rich Bell River, near Ben Macdhui in the Drakensberg mountains of the north Eastern Cape, South Africa. This Victorian-era Village, declared a conservation area in 1997, is surrounded by pristine rivers.  It serves as a retreat from civilization, its 100-year history providing hours of interesting exploring. On destination arrival, you book into your accommodation and enjoy some leisure time before you enjoy a lovely spa treatment, a full body and scalp relaxation experience.. After some leisure time, you will be escorted to a delicious dinner.

Day 7: Rhodes to Cradock 


After breakfast, we head to our next destination Cradock. Cradock has witnessed much of South Africa’s history from its verandas - the Great Trek originated here. Lying on the banks of the Great Fish River, on the site of what was intended as a Boer fort to contain the Xhosa who competed for grazing grounds for their cattle in this part of the Cape, is the historical town of Cradock - a serene but typical Karoo farming town. part of the town is graced with some of the finest historical buildings. There are many small towns along the route for us to stop and admire or purchase souvenirs, treats, and more. We will stop at one of the quaint little towns' top restaurants to have lunch before traveling into Cradock.  

 

Day 8: Cradock to Port Elizabeth  


After breakfast we travel to the Mountain Zebra National Park, it has invigorating crystal clear air, beautiful scenery, tranquil ambiance, and an abundance of wildlife. It is truly a personal African wilderness experience. Following this we head to Olive Schriener House Museum (1855-1920), Olive was a political feminist activist and the author of the world-renowned novel, “The Story of an African Farm” Spend time looking at some of the finest, historical sites Cradock has to offer, the town is graced with some of the finest buildings. We then head to the  Olive Shreiner House Museum, devoted to the authoress’s life and works. Following this we head to the Olive Schriener House Museum (1855-1920), to learn about Olive who was a political feminist activist and the author of the world-renowned novel, “The Story of an African Farm” A pictorial display of her life can be seen in the house.  After a light lunch, we head to the pre-historic site Egg Rock. Egg Rock, also known as Kurraragin in the Yugambeh language, is a prominent geological feature. Before arriving in Port Elizabeth, we make a second stop and the well-known delectable Nanaga Farm Stall before arriving in the friendly city. On arrival marks the end of your Luxury Cultural Tour which will leave countless memories. You are transported to your choice of destination.
