8 DAY LUXURY SAFARI GARDEN ROUTE TOUR

Day 1: Port Elizabeth - Knysna 

Your luxury safari tour will commence as you are collected by your guide from your requested pick-up point in Port Elizabeth heading towards the picturesque region of our Tsitsikamma Forest, a Coastal National Park leading to the scenic Storms River Village, Storms River is a scenic, powerful river that winds its way through the Tsitsikamma Mountain Range and into the Indian Ocean. Here you will enjoy a delicious and relaxing lunch, in a beautiful, relaxing, and outdoor setting. Take part in the Storms River Mouth Bridge Trail, a short hike along the pristine coastline to the famous suspension bridge that runs over the mouth of Storms River. After leaving this Garden Route Wonder, we continue a short distance to the Big Tree, an awe-inspiring wonder. Enjoy a short walk through the shaded serenity of the Tsitsikamma Forest.  After this unique excursion, we travel to Plettenberg Bay, a beach town paradise, to stop at the famous lookout point for a picturesque panorama view of the most pristine beaches and to enjoy possible dolphin sightings. Next, we head to Knysna, a natural paradise and one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Garden Route. On arrival in Knysna, you will be checked in at your accommodation. After checking in you will have some leisure time to enjoy views of lush forests that stretch before you. After leisure time you will be escorted to dinner. Your guide will present you with various upmarket restaurant options. 
(On the way to Knysna there is an optional activity to stop at the Knysna Elephant Park for an extraordinary Elephant encounter – this activity is not included in the tour rate but can be added on if required)

Day 2: Knysna 

After a delicious breakfast served style, we make our way to the privately owned Featherbed Nature Reserve, in Knysna, for a day of a premier eco-experience. This outing includes a delightful ferry cruise crossing the Knysna lagoon, an adventurous 4×4 vehicle drive, finishing the outing off with a guided 2,2 km nature walk. On completion of this luxury adventure and activity, will be treated to a spectacular outdoor buffet food experience, set in serene forest scenery. After lunch, return to our accommodation to enjoy leisure time. Once refreshed and ready for dinner, your guide will present you with various upmarket restaurant options. We spent another night at this luxury lodge.

Day 3 – Knysna to Oudtshoorn

After breakfast, we make our way to the privately owned Featherbed Nature Reserve in Knysna for a premier eco-experience. This outing includes a ferry cruise crossing the remarkable Knysna lagoon, an adventurous 4×4 vehicle drive to the top of the Western Head, and a leisurely 2.2km nature walk, followed by being treated to an outdoor buffet lunch. After this spectacular food experience, we return to the mainland by cruiser and continue the tour through the Lake District and the beautiful Wilderness, known for the best and most pristine beaches along the Garden Route. Here we stop at a popular tourist attraction, The Dolphin Viewpoint where it is possible to spot dolphins and gives a magnificent view of the untouched paradise of the Wilderness beaches. Continuing the tour, we travel over the Outeniqua Mountain Pass, where we stop to view the breathtaking views, it boasts. Before arrival in Oudtshoorn (“The Ostrich Capital of the World”) we stop to visit an Ostrich Farm where you take part in a guided tour and experience hand-feeding these flightless, fastest, and largest birds in South Africa. On arrival in Oudtshoorn enjoy some leisure time before being escorted to dinner.

Day 4 & 5 – Oudtshoorn to the suggested Luxury Privately Owned 5-star Gondwana Game Reserve

After breakfast, you will be escorted by your guide to visit the famous Cango Caves. In Oudtshoorn, The Cango Caves is a cultural and natural landmark in South Africa and South Africa’s oldest tourist attraction. It is an easy walk-through Heritage Tour with spectacular stalactites and stalagmites in six large halls and continuing through to the "African Drum room". The tour is led by accredited cave guides and is approximately one hour in length.  Before we head to the game reserve, we cross the magnificent Robertson Pass to Mossel Bay to visit the Diaz Museum, The Post Office Tree, and the historical Khoisan Cave and learn about the excavation that took place here and what artifacts were recovered.  Looking down to the ocean from the front of the cave at low tide, you will be able to see the fish middens created by this nomadic race. We then travel to Gondwana Private Game Reserve for your next two nights stay. The region offers a diverse range of habitats and is home to many species of birds. Guided game drives are available daily where you will experience viewing our magnificent Big 5 Wildlife and in specific areas, you can enjoy free roaming.  This bespoke accommodation includes Breakfast, Lunch, Afternoon Tea, and Dinner.  Included in this luxury tour package, you get to experience 2 exciting activities a guided open vehicle Game Drive with snacks and drinks and a Tented Bush Spa Treatment utilising all-natural Africology products.  You will be able to enjoy any other activity on your account.

Day 6 & 7 Gondwana Private Game Reserve to Montagu

On awakening in this beautiful reserve, you get to enjoy an early morning game activity with light snacks, After the enchanting activity return to the lodge for a well-deserved 5-star luxury served breakfast.  We must now pack our bags and reluctantly depart from this beautiful, luxurious game reserve. However, there are some scenic route passes as we travel through farming towns such as Calitzdorp, Ladiysmith, historic Amalienstein, and Zoar as well as fruit and olive-growing and wine-producing towns. Sit back and enjoy the scenery and directness of the route while driving to Montagu, our next stop. You can check into your luxury accommodation at one of the most delightful farm estates Montague offers. Dinner is included in this overnight stay. Enjoy the activities these farms have to offer or simply just relax.

Day 8 Montagu to Cape Town

After a delicious breakfast, we start our last day on your luxury tour continuing along the R62 through Robertson, Worcester, and the magnificent Hex River Valley, well known for wine and olive farms. The stunning natural beauty makes the journey something to look forward to with its, fruit orchards, copious vineyards, and long stretches of Karoo landscapes.  We travel over the scenic du Toit’s Kloof Pass through the fertile Paarl Valley that promises unbeatable scenery and into the Mother City of Cape Town. Your luxury 8-day Private and Exclusive Tour ends on arrival in the Mother City of Cape Town. Your guide will drop you off at your choice of destination.
